2017 Big Ethnographic Dictation
On November 3, Yugra State University will become a host of the nationwide cultural and educational campaign – 2017 Big Ethnographic Dictation. Ugra together with all the rest of the regions across Russia will commemorate the National Unity Day. This year the event goes international due to the Rossotrudnichestvo assistance (Russian Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation) making it possible for compatriots abroad to join the ethnographic literacy test.

"Russia is unique owing to its ethnic diversity, with as many as 193 nations to live here. How good are we at their history, culture, traditions and customs? To answer these questions we organized the Big Ethnographic Dictation. Last year the event was held for the very first time. Nearly 90,000 people across 800 Russian venues from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok together with Turkey and Switzerland participated in the campaign. We had a positive feedback, so we decided to hold it on a regular basis. I welcome everyone, including our compatriots living abroad, to take a Russia's nations awareness test," Igor Barinov, Head of Federal Agency for Nationals Affairs said.

Anyone may participate in the dictation after just contacting any regional venue in Russia, regardless of their place of residence, or do so in a foreign mission abroad affiliated to Rossotrudnichestvo. Venue locations are available at http://miretno.ru or http://fadn.gov.ru, as well as in thematic communities on social media. The results of the test will have been available by the Russian Constitution Day – 12 December 2017.

The Big Ethnographic Dictation is co-organized by the Federal Agency for Nationals Affairs and the Ministry for National Policy of the Udmurt Republic, Russia.
