Third-year student Vladislav Nefedov of the Institute of Humanities, Yugra State University will study in The University of Bonn, Germany, having won a DAAD German Academic Exchange Service scholarship.

"It has been an established tradition for students of the YUSU Department of Foreign Languages to participate in DAAD scholarship programs. Every year our students who study German as a second foreign language travel to German universities for as long as one month to improve their language skills in an international environment, being tutored by experienced native-speaking teachers," said Svetlana Vladimirova, department head.

During this academic year, Vladislav Nefedov, a junior student majoring in Linguistics, will spend next August in The University of Bonn, getting the unforgettable curriculum experience to be arranged for scholarship holders like him at the grant-maker's expense.

We remind that DAAD scholarships are competitive. Competitive selection is performed by expert commissions, made up of guest professors at Russian and German universities, as well as of DAAD partner organizations representatives. Selecting applicants, experts consider academic performance, exam results, scientific expertise, quality and relevance of research project, motivation, German or English language skills (program-specific criteria), and personal contacts with German educational institution.

"Only one out of three candidates, nominated by the university, has qualified to travel to Germany this year. As early as the beginning of the next academic year, Vladislav will tell us about his impressions, and we hope this experience be the new, helpful and unique one for him," Mrs Vladimirova resumed.
