Rectors met in Budapest


László Borhy, Rector of Eötvös Loránd University and Tatianfa Karminskaya, Rector of Yugra State University discussed the preservation of national traditions and languages of Finno-Ugric peoples.

A delegation of Yugra State University consisting of Rector - Tatyana Karminskaya, Director of the Department of Communication Policy - Lyubov Tretyakova and Director of Northern Peoples Center - Tatiana Dyatlova visited Eötvös Loránd University in early February.

At the meeting Tatiana Karminskaya spoke about the uniqueness of our territory, the mission of the University, and shared the plans of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities for the next three years. Recall that, YuSU became the Chair of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities in December 2018, and in May 2019 the International Youth Festival "Finno-Ugric Spring - 2019" will be organized by the University.

Professor László Borhy noted the importance of the visit, means of support of development of languages of indigenous peoples, emphasized the importance and significance of the philological Institute of the University and, in particular, of the Department of Finno-Ugric languages, whose mission is to support regions inhabited by Indigenous Northern Peoples.

“For me and our university, our joint work on the development of Ugric studies is important,” - said László Borhy. - Our mission is to develop strategies for such cooperation, and we will definitely take part in the activities of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities.

Tatiana Karminskaya thanked Professor László Borhy for organizing the meeting, expressing hope for the implementation of joint projects in the field of education and culture. Lyubov Tretyakova spoke about the development of ethno journalism, students’ media projects in the field of Ugric studies. Tatiana Dyatlova mentioned in her speech the events of the festival “Finno-Ugric Spring-2019”.

Then the delegation of Yugra State University discussed the main issues for the development and interaction of universities with professors of the Department of Finno-Ugric Languages of Institute of Philology.
