The goal of the Preparatory Department is to develop Russian language proficiency and readiness of foreign applicants to continue their study at Russian higher education institutions. It offers courses in Russian language and profession-oriented subjects. After taking a preparatory course, prospective students can apply to any Russian university for a Russian-taught education programme. Yugra State University offers international prospective students training options that differ in academic areas, lengths of study, number of disciplines, study periods and tuition fees. University also arranges various events to help international students learn about Russian culture and customs and facilitate their adaptation to new environment.

Yugra State University Preparatory Department offers foreigners five academic fields to choose from:

  1. Engineering 
  2. Economics
  3. Natural Science
  4. Medicine
  5. Humanities

After passing the exams, preparatory department graduates receive a certificate of proficiency in Russian.

The aim of a practical course of Russian as a Foreign Language is  to provide foreign students with the most necessary language skills and abilities in all types of speech activity and to confirm the knowledge by the results of state examination – the first certification level B1

Preparatory course – "Standard":

  • Application dates: 1 March – 31 July
  • Period of study: October – July
  • Training period:- 9 months;
  • Total number of academic hours: – 2376, including 1008/1010 classroom hours;

Extracurricular activities: an interesting cultural program will also be provided for foreign students. It allows to get acquainted with the history and cultural life of Khanty-Mansiysk - one of the most beautiful cities in Western Siberia. University staff organizes bus tours around the city. 

There is a tutor service as well, cooking classes, literary evenings, festive and sports events of university, city and international levels. YuSU foreign students have great opportunities to participate in creative projects, meet interesting people and acquire new experiences and hobbies.

Tuition fees: 100 000 -125 000 rubles ($1,300-1,600); payments are accepted in rubles, dollar-denominated prices are shown as reference

All applicants must submit the following documents:

  • High school diploma (provided with notarized translation);
  • copy of passport (provided with notarized translation);
  • completed visa form;
  • original medical report (results of an HIV test);
  • six photos 3x4 cm
