The Research Institute of Geology and Ecology of Oil-and-Gas Region was founded on 1 February, 2008 on the basis of the Training and Research Analytical Centre of Natural Resource Management operating at Yugra State University.

The Institute is furnished with the most advanced equipment and instruments supplied by the worlds leading manufacturers: Perkin-Elmer, Mettler-Toledo, Fritsch, Fann, OFITE, Haake, Philips, Vinci Technologies and others.

There are seven laboratories operating in the Institute:

• spectrographic methods,
• thermal research methods,
• drilling fluids and cement slurries,
• x-ray defractometry,
• radiation monitoring,
• chromatographic methods,
• petrophysics.

The Institute has a license of Rosgidromet for activity in hydro meteorology and other related fields, accreditation of the Analytical Centre of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology and the Radiation Surveillance Laboratory of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology.
