Today, Yugra State University launched its Summer School, which will run until September 9. The event brings together young researchers from different countries to explore modern methodologies for studying the carbon cycle in the "peat-soil-vegetation" system.
Professor Elena Lapshina delivered a welcome address, highlighting the unique opportunities the site offers for year‑round research, while Senior Researcher Evgeny Zarov presented the work plan and the scientific potential of the Mukhrino research station.
What's on the programme?
Lectures by leading experts from Russia, China, the United Kingdom, Greece, and Turkey;
Field research at the unique Mukhrino field station;
6 days of fieldwork and 2 days of intensive lectures and laboratory sessions at YuSU.
Participants will engage in peat core analysis, sample collection, demonstrations of meteorological stations and gas analysis systems, as well as roundtable discussions on Russian‑Chinese cooperation. The School will culminate in collaborative work on a joint publication for the peer‑reviewed journal “Environmental Dynamics and Global Climate Change”.
Tomorrow, the researchers will head to the field station, where productive scientific work awaits them. We wish all participants a valuable exchange of experience and meaningful discoveries!
