Students of the Higher School of Ecology took part in an International online subject Olympiad dedicated to the 25th anniversary of L.N. Gumilev Eurasian University - an international partner of Yugra State University.

The Olympiad was held in two stages - testing and defense of projects in the following thematic areas:

  1. Actual problems of ecology;
  2. Environmental monitoring;
  3. Problems of water resources;
  4. Technologies of rational environment management and protection;
  5. Social ecology;
  6. Wastes. Recycling of waste.

The second- and third-year students of Yugra State University - Daria Belkova, Elvira Mullayarova and Victoria Shaneva - demonstrated excellent knowledge during the first stage and brilliantly presented their research project on "Monitoring the carbon balance of the territory of an oil and gas field".

Evgeny Zarov, Senior Researcher at the UNESCO Chair "Environmental Dynamics and Global Climate Change" and Alexander Kaverin, lecturer at the Higher School of Ecology, acted as scientific supervisors of the student team.

As a result, the students took the 1st place in the team competition and were awarded a diploma of the first degree, the scientific supervisors were awarded with certificates of appreciation.

A total of 18 teams took part in the Olympiad: 16 from universities in Kazakhstan and 2 from Russian universities.
