By order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Roman Viktorovich Kuchin has been officially appointed Rector of Yugra State University for the next five years. The decision was preceded by a thorough procedure: the candidacy of the incumbent Rector was unanimously approved by the Academic Council of YSU, supported by the Council of Rectors of Yugra, and subsequently endorsed by the Certification Commission of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the conference of the university's staff and students.
Roman Kuchin has been working at Yugra State University since 2003. Over this period, he has progressed from a lecturer to the head of the university, and in 2021 he assumed the position of Rector.
In 2026, the university ranked among the leaders in graduate employment across several fields of study. The Rector attributes these achievements to the right strategy: "We focus on the real needs of the region's and the country's economy – and this approach delivers results," emphasizes Roman Viktorovich.
This year, Yugra State University celebrates its 25th anniversary – the university's steady growth is evident in all areas: student accomplishments, educational programmes, and scientific discoveries.
We congratulate Roman Viktorovich! There is significant and important work ahead.
