From Africa to Khanty-Mansiysk


Students from Zambia and Ghana arrived in Khanty-Mansiysk to study at Yugra State University.


Seven students from Zambia and one from Ghana arrived in Khanty-Mansiysk to study at Yugra State University within the grant established by the Government of the Russian Federation. The previous year Zambian students graduated preparatory department and this year they are enrolled in the following specialties: ‘Civil Engineering’, ‘Oil and Gas’, ‘Ecology’. They will be provided with stipend during the whole period of study.

On  November, 17 the students took part in the meeting with the university administration. Questions on the education process, on the accommodation  and participation in extra-curricular activities were discussed. The university staff will help the international students with socialization and adaptation to the new culture.

“I knew that Russia is a very huge and great country. And I made sure of it when we arrived to Moscow. Transport here is very quick and comfortable. When I arrived in Khanty-Mansiysk I felt this Siberian climate and saw snow for the first time. It is really cold here but I have a lot of warm clothes. I already like this town!” – said one of the students Silungwe Nkumbu.
