The first Summer School on Green Economy was held at Yugra State University
The first Summer School of Green Economy has finished in Yugra state university on 10 September.
The format of the school included lectures and discussions with leading Russian economists specializing on economics of sustainable development, greening of economy, green and circular economy.
Within the Summer School early career researchers had an opportunity to present the results of their work, take part in professional discussion and get a personal piece of advice from highly qualified specialists. One of the leading lecturers was an associate professor from LUT University (Finland) – Ari Happonen.
Roman Kuchin, the rector of Yugra state university, noted in his welcoming speach that the Summer School is an important growth point for the university. "An international field station operates at the university, we are involved in the process of calculation regional enterprises' carbon balance. I think we will keep developing in this direction. Therefore, what you are doing today is future!" commented Roman Kuchin.
Lyudmila Kabir, Chief Researcher at the Financial Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, drew the participants' attention to the importance of the problems discussed during the school. She also noted that society is facing modernization challenges not for the first time. "Every country has its own way of the transition to a new model of green economy development. And Russia has it too. Now we are trying to develop tools and promotion algorithms for it. The relevance of the school lies in the elaboration of the concept and approaches to the implementation of this large and complex task. I am glad there are many young people who develop those competencies that are sorely lacking in modern specialists," concluded Lyudmila Kabir.
Also, within the school the All-Russian competition of early career researchers in this field was held. The competition commission consisted of leading Russian economists specializing in environmental issues. They noted a high level of study and interest of students.
According to the results of the Competition, a group of fourth-grade students of "Economic security" major of the Institute of Digital Economy won first place with the "Study of the interest of financial organizations in participating in the green financial market " research/
"It was a great experience that exceeded all my expectations. The choice of the topic was reasoned by our specialty, since we study investment, financing and work of commercial organizations. That is why we were interested in research on this field", commented Olga Marina, the group member.
The winners were awarded with valuable prizes and were invited to the next Summer school as speakers.
