The major fields of the scientific activity and professional training are Law, Linguistics (including finno-ugric languages), Mathematics, Social studies, Arctic engineering, Energy efficiency, Applied ecology, IT, Economics. 12 Science schools are functioning at the university.
There is also a UNESCO Chair “Environmental dynamics and global climate change”.
The University is certified by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation to realize 10 post-graduate programs: Mathematics and Mechanics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, IT, Economics, Law, Pedagogics, Philology, Physical Culture and Sport, Electrical and Heat Engineering.
