Students of the YuSU Higher School of Law organised a business game "Lesson of Justice"

Judge, clerk of court, state prosecutor, defendant, plaintiff, witnesses ....In a real county courtroom, students from the Higher School of Law gathered to take part in a business game called "Lesson in Justice."

The event was organised on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

"Together with the Institute of the Human Rights Ombudsman and Yugra State University, it was decided to hold a scientific and practical event. I think that during the "Lesson of Justice" the students will not only acquire new knowledge, but also consolidate the previously obtained knowledge. The main purpose of the game is to realise the importance and significance of chosen profession. Since regardless of how they graduate from university and where they get a job, the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens should be a priority. This task is stipulated in the Constitution and is the task of the state. Lawyers should serve for the benefit of people. The event we are organising will be focused on the consideration of a civil case, but taking into account the wishes we can hold such activities on a systematic basis, but in different areas", - said Pavel Shkilev, Chairman of the Yugra Court.

Natalia Strebkova, Commissioner for Human Rights in Yugra also emphasised the importance of this event for students: "You will become lawyers, find a decent job, and such "Lessons in Justice" will help you make the right choice. Where you may have doubts, be braver, where you lack professional knowledge, don't be afraid to ask questions. I wish that such lessons will allow you to become good professionals. In this business it is very important to be impartial in your activity and to act according to the law of conscience. These two theses are inseparable. The main thing is to bring justice.

The subject of the trial was a lawsuit to restore the rights of an employee who had been illegally dismissed. The "session" was also attended as spectators by schoolchildren of 11 classes of secondary schools of Khanty-Mansiysk.

During the "trial" the students demonstrated not only their acting skills, but also their knowledge of criminal law. A definite plus of this business game is the opportunity to play out a situation from real practice, which was heard in court this summer. This is very important for future lawyers, as it gives them an opportunity to understand the peculiarities of the profession and gain practical skills.
