YuSU hosts “Career days in Rosneft”

Rosneft's subsidiaries introduced themselves to YuSU students.

The meeting, which was organised by the YuSU Career Centre, was attended by senior students of the Higher Oil School, Polytechnic School, Higher School of Digital Economy, Engineering School of Digital Technologies, and Higher School of Ecology.

Roman Kichanov, Vice-Rector of YuSU, welcomed the participants. He noted that YuSU and Rosneft are united by long-term partnership relations.

Next, Marina Timoshkina, Head of the YuSU Competence Assessment Centre, spoke about the passports of universal competences that YuSU graduates receive and submit to employers and the basic assessment matrix.

Marina Valeryevna shared an update on how employers' demand is changing. While a couple of years ago companies wanted to see specialists who could follow the rules, recent studies show that self-development has become the most demanded competence: "Companies want young employees to be able to build their own development trajectory, to find tools with which they can develop themselves, and to solve the tasks set before them in a non-trivial, creative way".

The head of the centre also noted that every year 50 best students who received the best assessments of their competences are submitted to the personnel reserve of the Department of Public Administration of Yugra.

It should be noted that RN-Yuganskneftegaz, RN-Burenie, RN-Nyaganneftegaz, RN-Uvatneftegaz, RN-Service, Kharampurneftegaz, and RN-Purneftegaz prepared their presentations. Students were introduced to the social support measures provided by the enterprises to young specialists (northern surcharge, housing, corporate mortgage, voluntary medical insurance and pension programme, etc.), specifics of production sites, infrastructure, modern shift complexes and attention paid to safety of working conditions and leisure time. Each enterprise has a mentoring system, youth councils, and young specialists develop through participation in scientific and practical conferences and other developmental activities. The enterprises also prepared introductory videos for the students, describing the specifics of work, achievements, number of employees and employment prospects.

At the end of the meeting, Maxim Korolev, Head of the Higher Oil School of YSU, presented the master's programmes of YuSU, introduced the rules of admission and conditions of study. In full-time study formats distance learning technologies are used, there is also an opportunity to enroll in part-time and correspondence training departments, where training is conducted in the evening and weekends.

After the presentations, the companies held a job fair at the "Boiling Point" where students could find information about available jobs, salary levels, career prospects, requirements for candidates and working conditions. Today, YuSU students will be given quizzes, business games and mini-lectures by representatives of the enterprises.

Students were excited about this opportunity to personally interact with company representatives and directly ask all their questions.
