YuSU postgraduate student won the data analysis championship

Arsenty Bredikhin, a 4th year postgraduate student of Computer Science and Computer Engineering, won the All-Russian championship DS CUP IT 2023.

The championship was organised by "Changellenge" company with the support of such large companies as "Gazpromneft", "Alfa-Bank", "Vkontakte".

"The participation was in online format. We had a team of 5 people from all over Russia. So, the team captain was from Novosibirsk, the other team members were from Moscow, Kazan and even Lipetsk. The name of the team was "Parallel-55". In total, there were about 15 teams in our field called Data Science. The organisers gave us two cases - the first one was about ranking the popularity of comments on a social network, the second one was about building a machine learning model to attract customers to a banking product. I was mainly involved in data preparation and research, as well as training part of the models and explanatory analytics," Arsenty shared his impressions.

The award ceremony was also held in online format.

"It was a useful experience for me - I learnt a lot of advanced algorithms for working with data. To be honest, I didn't think about victory at the time," summarises the winner.

All members of the winning team received valuable prizes.
