Our library has organised a books exhibition devoted to the centenary of the beginning of World War I (28 July 1914 - 11 November 1918). This unprecedented disaster led to the loss of millions of lives, fall and rise of a nimber of powerful empires, establishing some new national states. Russia as a key participant suffered a lot from the war.

Our library's exhibition dispays books and magazine articles that reflect the basic stages of the war and its outcomes for Russia, organisation of the army and base, helping the injured, allies and enemies, and some fiction about that period of history.

A lot of media are writing about the centenary these days. You can learn more about the lasting outcomes of the war from a brilliant Wall Street Journal longread (the link will stay in our Information resources page).

You are welcome to study the documents of our history.
