Lyubov Morozova, the student of the Institute of management and economics, studied in the Summer school ("Sommeruni 2014") at the University of Bayreuth from 4 to 28 August. "In the end of the course,"she says, "I noticed that I was able to understand the flow of foreign speech in general, without thinking over each word, while in the first week it seemed to me everyone was speaking with different accents and great pace, and I could only catch a few words".

The university organised the course "Language and society in present-day Germany", conducted by two lecturers in mixed international groups. Lyuba's group included the students from Russia, Belorussia, China and Korea.

"I had 70 achs of language, 28 achs of theory and practice in German studies and 40 achs of communication classes", she says. "Almost every weekday we had excursions around Bayreuth's places of interest and nearby cities, and on Saturdays - to the popular touristy places: Bamberg, Dresden, Leipzig."

In the end of the course the students took an exam with listening, reading comprehension, topic questions, grammar and essay. Lyuba had 74 points out of 100, with the teachers' remarks on good disclosure of the essay's topic (her choice was the sights of Berlin and Munich, which was not hard for her as a student of  "Tourism" specialty).

Lyuba expresses her warm thanks to her teacher, Natalia Filimonova, for her help with the preparation and organisation of the trip.

Conducting international summer schools has become habitual for many universities. This year our university took up the tradition, too, and offered a summer school course (news one, two, three) for the international group of students this August.
