The Ugra's first ever race car designed and developed by Yugra State University students will be unveiled to the public.

"The race car assembly within the YUSU-based Formula Student UGRA project will be completed through funding of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh)," Vladimir Nazarov, Student Engineering Department research manager said. "This year the vehicle will kick start by participating in Formula SAE international racing competitions."

This contest is not just a car racing. The team of university students is an engineering company aimed at developing, building and testing a formula class vehicle prototype for an amateur race car market. The challenge for the team is the very construction process of the car, which would successfully pass all the disciplines in the upcoming competition. In this case, the team must provide complete design documentation of the project and prove the applied technical solutions to be optimal.

Alexander Kozhedyorov, staff member of the Student Engineering Department took part in the Annual All-Russia Youth Projects Contest held by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, where the agency experts gave credit to the project, awarding it a grant," Vladimir Nazarov added. "This support proved to be incredibly timely, the grant will cover the full tilt of the vehicle construction in 2018. Thus, very soon Ugra Fantom will appear in the eyes of the public absolutely tangible and ready to win!"

Using the grant funding covered by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the UGRA student team is going to order the manufacturing of a steering gearbox, a quenching element and a differential mount from proven project partner – the Machine Tool and Mechanical Plant LLC – based on the drawings developed in the SED, with the second set of wheel disks and rain tires to be purchased as well.
