WEST SIBERIAN PEATLANDS AND CARBON CYCLE:
THE PAST AND THE PRESENT
Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to participate in the WSPCC 2024 - Seventh International Field Symposium «West Siberian Peatlands And Carbon Cycle: Past And Present»
The Symposium aims to promote a broad exchange of knowledge in the study of biodiversity, waterlogging processes and preservation of biosphere functions of bogs and wetland forests, integrated ecological monitoring of bog ecosystems, the role of bogs in the global carbon cycle, as well as the assessment of anthropogenic impacts on the functioning of peatlands and the introduction of modern technologies for low-carbon nature management in the context of climate change.
The plenary, breakout sessions and direct communication during field trips will discuss the main results in the study of biodiversity and functioning of bog ecosystems, modelling of carbon exchange and peat accumulation processes, protection and reclamation of bogs, and implementation of climate projects.
MAIN SCIENTIFIC DIRECTIONS OF THE SYMPOSIUM
1. The role of mire ecosystems in the global carbon cycle. Ecological modeling.
2. Biodiversity and ecology of mire.
3. Biogeochemical cycles of natural and anthropogenically disturbed mire ecosystems. Biogeochemistry of peats and mire waters.
4. Paleoecology and history of the development of mire ecosystems.
5. Impact of modern climatic changes on forested and mire ecosystems.
6. Mire as specially protected objects and their role in the sustainable development of regions.
SYMPOSIUM LANGUAGE
Russian and English.
Please note that all presentations at the Symposium should be prepared in English.
FORMATS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE SYMPOSIUM
OFFLINE - with an oral presentation or poster (participation without a presentation is possible).
ONLINE - with an oral presentation or poster.
