Yugra State University held Friendship Day, timed to coincide with National Unity Day. The event brought together international students from YSU and students from Khanty-Mansiysk Medical Academy.
Oksana Gololobova, Director of the YuSU Center for International Cooperation, delivered a welcoming speech. She noted the importance of this event: “Such a wonderful holiday as Friendship Day, timed to coincide with National Unity Day, demonstrates unity in diversity. You are all different, from different cultures, but united by a common goal—education. Here, along with acquiring knowledge, you have a unique opportunity to build bridges between countries, cultures, and traditions. You can make new friends, and when you return home, you can continue your communication and friendship. So take advantage of this opportunity, connect, and be friends! I hope this event will become a springboard for new acquaintances and lasting impressions.”
Various activities were organized as part of the event, including an intellectual quiz game in the format of “Brain Ring.” Eight teams participated in the game, and the questions were carefully crafted around the theme of National Unity and Friendship Day.
Participants had to answer questions covering cultural aspects, as well as fun challenges, including proverbs and sayings about friendship in Russian and English. They also had to guess photos of celebrities from films based on the theme of friendship.
The main goal of the game was to erase boundaries and overcome language barriers, as well as create an opportunity for students from different countries to meet and connect. In an atmosphere of friendliness and mutual understanding, participants were able not only to demonstrate their knowledge but also to strengthen their bonds with one another.
