On August 9, the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is celebrated all over the world!
There are 47 small indigenous peoples in Russia. The development and preservation of the unique historical and cultural heritage of indigenous peoples is one of the state priorities. Yugra is a unique region that has united people of different nationalities! The culture and traditions of indigenous peoples are an integral part of our heritage.
"Yugra State University is working hard to preserve and popularize the historical and cultural heritage of indigenous peoples of the North in the student, youth environment. Being a member of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities, Yugorsk State University is deeply integrated into the international agenda. We pay special attention to the development of academic mobility, national sports of Finno-Ugric peoples among young people, support of a common educational, scientific and information space of the Finno-Ugric commonwealth. To support the atmosphere of creativity of indigenous minorities and successful implementation of the educational process in the university, the Center of the Peoples of the North was created. Students from the indigenous minorities take part in various research and extracurricular activities.
In September 2024, Yugra State University will launch a new program of additional education to prepare school graduates from indigenous minorities of the North to enter the university. With the financial support of the Yugra Department of Education and Science the children have a unique opportunity to study at the preparatory department to enter an educational organization of higher education absolutely free of charge.
