Native Languages Week at YuSU

The Native Languages Week, timed to coincide with the International Day of Native Languages, which is celebrated on February 21, started in YuSU. The week began with an introduction to the languages and culture of the indigenous peoples of the North.

The students were told about Khanty and Mansi musical culture, demonstrated folk musical instruments, and performed songs and dances. For example, our international students learned that sankvyltap is translated into Russian as “tinkling board”. Researchers from the Torum Maa Open Air Ethnographic Museum shared their rich culture with the students - Victor Bank, Daria Kunina and Valentin Nettin.
