Rector of Yugra State University Participates in RACAR Meeting

Today, Rector of Yugra State University Roman Viktorovich Kuchin took part in a meeting of the Russian-Asian Consortium for Arctic Research (RACAR). During the event, he delivered a report on the outcomes of YuSU's co-chairmanship of RACAR in 2023-2025 and discussed plans for the coming years.

YuSU became a co-chair of RACAR in July 2023 at the XV General Assembly of the Northern Forum, held in Khanty-Mansiysk. Following today's meeting, the university officially extended its co-chairmanship until 2027. This decision reflects the high recognition of YuSU's contribution to the development of international research and educational cooperation in the Arctic.

Key achievements during the university's co-chairmanship include:

???? Expansion of RACAR membership to 26 organizations from Russia, China, India, and Indonesia.
???? Intensification of Russian-Chinese scientific dialogue, including the launch of the Cross Years of Education between Russia and China (2026-2027).
???? Establishment of the annual conference "Youth Arctic: Science for the Future," which has become a signature event of the consortium and a key platform for young researchers.
???? Initiation of a large-scale project preparing for the V International Polar Year 2032-2033 – a strategic global initiative.
???? Integration of Arctic topics into the educational programs of member universities and strengthening ties with industrial partners.
???? Launch of the Indian cooperation track – leading Indian universities have now joined the consortium.

The meeting focused on technological cooperation issues: development of the transarctic transport corridor, digitalization of university internal environments, sustainable natural resource management, and lean technologies. Discussions with Chinese colleagues were particularly significant, as they confirmed their readiness to expand joint research projects.

Yugra State University, located in the heart of the Arctic region, sees its mission as serving as a bridge between science, education, and the real needs of the territories.

Work continues.
