YuSU expands horizons: English-taught IT program launch

Yugra State University is strengthening its international ties and opening up new educational opportunities. During a visit by Elena Bass, General Director of the Russian Education Center in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the launch of a new English-taught program, "Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence," was announced.

Elena Bass is a university partner who has been helping select talented candidates for study in Russia for two years now. "I first came to Khanty-Mansiysk two years ago as part of the 'Hello, Russia' program. "To see Yugra is to fall in love with Russia," she said. "Your location impressed me, and we immediately agreed to collaborate. While the first group was small, this year seven students from Bangladesh have joined us. One of them proposed an initiative to create an English-language program in computer engineering, and the university supported it. You are growing, and we are growing with you."

Currently, 96 international students are studying at YuSU in higher education programs, and 15 are studying in the preparatory department. First students from Bangladesh arrived in 2024. For this moment – seven students are from Bangladesh, two from Morocco, five from Ghana, and one from Colombia. Just three months after arriving in November, the students from Bangladesh are communicating fluently in Russian—a result of our unique 24/7 adaptation system.

"Our specialists from the Center for International Cooperation support the students from the moment they are met at the airport and throughout their entire journey, assisting them with medical and everyday matters. We are always in touch. Besides their studies, the students lead an active student life: they participate in university, city, and national events, such as the "Ski Track of Russia" and "Yugorskie Oblasy." They certainly don't have time to get bored," says Tatyana Kostyleva, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs.

In recognition of her contribution to the development of international cooperation, Elena Bass was presented with a certificate confirming her status as the exclusive representative of YuSU in the Republic of Bangladesh and her right to represent the university's interests.

The program is scheduled to launch in September 2026. This is the result of a collaborative effort, and we are proud that our university is always ready to support progressive initiatives.
