YuSU at the VIII International Forum “Oil Capital”

“Mukhrino” and laboratories in miniature, new breakthrough developments and scientific reports. All this was presented by novice and experienced scientists of YuSU at the VIII International Youth Scientific and Practical Forum “Oil Capital”. This year it was held in Surgut. The forum is timed to the 65th anniversary of the Shaimskoye oil discovery, the 60th anniversary of the Samotlor field discovery and the production of 13-billion tons of oil in Yugra. This year the forum was attended by representatives from 16 countries.

“The demand for petroleum products is steadily growing worldwide. In order for the industry to continue to develop, it is necessary to develop and introduce new technologies that reduce the cost of mineral extraction and simplify the work of oil workers in the fields. Active work is now underway on the Concept for the Development of the Hydrocarbon Resource Base until 2050, which is synchronized with federal requirements. Friendly foreign countries see Russia, and Yugra in particular, as a reliable strategic partner and express interest in our developments in the field of hard-to-recover oil reserves production”, - said Ruslan Kukharuk, Governor of Yugra, addressing the forum participants.

“We are pleased to welcome you to the VII International Academic Congress named after F.K. Salmanov. We have gathered on a very topical subject. Our initiative - the creation and development of this congress - began with the oil direction. Now there are new directions that we are developing. This includes environmental issues of the region, and what is important now and there is a demand both in the regional economy and in the economy of Russia - creative industries. Today I participated in an event in India, which was dedicated to interactions on Arctic issues. The topic of creative industries was also raised here. It is at a very high level,” - Roman Viktorovich Kuchin emphasized.

Traditionally, YuSU held the VII International Petroleum Academic Congress named after F.K. Salmanov as part of the forum. Thus, at the round table moderated by Dmitry Korneev, Associate Professor of the Higher Oil School of YuSU, the problems and prospects of heavy hydrocarbons involvement into economic turnover were discussed. This is the first time such a round table has been held at the Congress. Experts not only from Russia, but also from Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan shared their experience in this area. According to experts, in order to make up for the missing balance due to the decline in light oil reserves, heavy hydrocarbons - natural bitumen and heavy oils - have been increasingly involved in production over the last few years.

Yugra State University also presented its stand at the specialized exhibition. The Higher Oil School prepared for the exhibition oilfield chemistry to improve the efficiency of oil production and transportation in Western Siberia. In particular, the innovative development of an inhibiting additive based on high-molecular oil components was presented by Alina Savchenko, a master's student of YuSU, the winner of the gas pedal of technological startups. The development, which is necessary for oil producing companies, creates the necessary additive to minimize deposits on the walls of process equipment and oil pipes. Also at the exhibition, visitors could see YuSU laboratories and the international station “Mukhrino” in miniature and live moss, which represent the ecological direction of the university's activities.
