YuSU is Yugra leader in training of specialists in the field of AI

For the first time Yugra State University entered the rating of universities in terms of the quality of training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence and immediately took the leading position among the universities of the district. Our university was placed in the D++ group.

It should be noted that the rating has been conducted by the ‘Alliance in the field of artificial intelligence’ since 2023. Last year the scores of 180 universities were taken into account, this year - 207. The universities are evaluated according to four blocks of criteria: the demand for graduates in hiring, the relevance of the AI education process, the educational environment, partnerships and external interactions. The analytical base is made up of data from open sources, results of surveys, data on graduates' salaries received from Rostrud, data on the united state examination received from the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

Thus, the achievements of YuSU in the field of digital technology development are confirmed by both objective data and high expert evaluation. The university carries out systematic and systematic work on the development of the information environment, introduction of AI into the educational process, training of highly qualified IT-specialists demanded by employers.

Thus, in accordance with the National Strategy of Artificial Intelligence Development, the Strategy of Additive Technologies Development and the Strategy of Unmanned Aviation Development, modern IT laboratories have been created and are operating in YuSU:

- Laboratory of Additive Technologies;

- Laboratory of Advanced Digital Technologies;

- Laboratory of Robotics and Automation;

- Laboratory of software solutions for business;

- Laboratory of data analysis and processing.

Also, a youth laboratory of ecosystems geoinformatics was opened at the university within the framework of the national project ‘Science and Universities’ with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The laboratory is equipped with a modern fleet of UAVs, and its staff and students of YuSU create a digital copy of nature - they build mathematical models, 3D models of the surface of the studied object, are engaged in digital highly detailed mapping. In addition, a VR-class has been opened at YuSU, where, for example, one can try on the profession of an oilman in a virtual field, and students present their AI developments at major Russian and international venues.

We would like to add that YuSU State University is the first university in the Okrug to open the ‘Information Security’ specialization. The university is also recruiting for such specialities as ‘Informatics and Computer Science’, ‘Software Engineering’, at the postgraduate level - ‘Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics’, ‘System Analysis, Control and Information Processing, Statistics’, ‘Mathematical Modelling, Numerical Methods and Program Complexes’.

It should be mentioned that at the XV International IT-Forum with the participation of BRICS and SCO countries YuSU signed a tripartite agreement on cooperation in the field of information technologies with the Government of Yugra and Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics. This means that the university has new prospects for development in the field of advanced digital technologies.
