Ekaterina Vasilyeva, a 4th year student of the YuSU Higher School of Humanities, became one of 30 winners of the project “Volunteer Movement ‘For Russian!’. The philologist won an internship in Tajikistan. In total, more than 400 students from 11 countries took part in the competition.
During two months the candidates passed the selection stages: they performed test tasks, wrote an essay on the role of language in the life of nations and a story about themselves in a video business card. As a result of the selection, 55 finalists were invited to Moscow for the “Volunteer School” intensive. It was held on the basis of the philological faculty of RUDN. The students of 23 universities were given master classes with the participation of famous philologists and teachers, trainings on personal development, project initiatives, teamwork from federal trainers of the RSM Trainers Association.
The names of 30 winners of the project “Volunteer Movement ‘For Russian!’ were announced at the Intensive. They will undergo a 30-day internship in countries near and far abroad, such as Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Egypt, India, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkey, Jordan, Mongolia. Our student was also among the winners.
“To be honest, I somehow had a premonition of victory. Despite my confidence, I was very happy to win. For me it's not just an experience, it's probably a new stage of life. I think it is there that I will be able to understand what I want to do in life. Undoubtedly, I love Russian language and culture, but whether I am ready to devote my life to pedagogy and mentoring, I will have to find out at the 30-day internship”, - Ekaterina commented on the victory.
The girl will leave for Tajikistan on November 13. In this country Ekaterina will have to conduct a series of practical classes, master classes, round tables, contests and quizzes to popularize Russian literature and culture. The program includes classes with students, senior and junior schoolchildren, preschool children: a quest “Literary Map of Russia”, a film lecture “Russian Literature in World Cinema”, a video tour “Russian Folk Crafts”, a program “Traditions of Russian Hospitality” and more.
We would like to add that the project is realized under the auspices of Rossotrudnichestvo and with the support of N.I. Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University. During 4 years Rossotrudnichestvo plans to form a personnel reserve of 120 specialists who will have an opportunity to realize their volunteer projects in the field of promotion of Russian language and culture abroad. The project “Volunteer Movement ‘For Russian!’ is of great importance for strengthening cultural and scientific ties between countries, contributing to the popularization of Russian language and literature in the international arena.
